Bend is one of those places that’s hard to leave once you’ve arrived. I have so many great memories visiting Oregon as a child, but I hadn’t been back in years. Matt and I were excited to take a family vacation in Oregon to explore everything Bend has to offer!
When I was searching accommodation for our stay I quickly landed on LOGE camps. It was described as “the hotel that gets you outdoors.” We’re always looking for an outdoor adventure, so I was immediately intrigued!
Tucked in the Deschutes National Forest the hotel’s beautiful location is the closest in-town to Mt Bachelor, surrounded by trails, with only a 20 min drive to the mountain, and a 15 min bike ride to the restaurants and breweries downtown. LOGE sounded like the perfect place to stay, so when the opportunity arose we jumped at the chance!
The small city located on the Deschutes River is a must visit town known for its year round outdoor playground. Whatever your activity of choice, Bend truly has it all! Hike, bike, rock climb, river raft, snowboard, ski, kayak, surf the river wave and more. The rugged terrain, whitewater rivers, towering forests, breathtaking waterfalls, and mountain views leave endless opportunities to discover.
Bend’s small town feel with a destination mentality makes for a perfect family vacation
When we arrived at LOGE Bend we were surrounded by trees. The gorgeous grounds offer everything an outdoor lover could dream of. From on-site bike rentals, fire pits, scenic river trails, a children’s play area, and a swimming pool, to free live music on a grassy field under fairy lights. LOGE delivers a welcoming outdoor-adventure. Olive practically jumped out of my arms when she saw the field and children’s play area!
The Entrada Bar and Cafe
Next we went into the lobby to check in and peeked around the hotel’s Entrada Bar and Cafe. They offer delicious coffee, local bakery items, wine, beer on tap, and a wall stacked with board games! With plenty of seating, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy or get some work done.
The staff was so welcoming during our stay. They were professional and attentive yet so friendly you felt like you were chatting with old friends!
Every morning in the cafe we enjoyed breakfast sandwiches, paleo muffins, and the best local coffee.
The Hotel Room
The room was so cozy and surrounded by trees. It was by far the most unique hotel room we’ve ever stayed in! We felt like we were walking into an outdoor infomercial in the best way possible.
These items were free to use during our stay, and if you like the gear and want to purchase it, simply take it home with you and it gets charged to your room. Amazing! Olive had so much fun swinging in the hammock 😍

We had such a good time. There were so many things to do!
It was the middle of summer so our days were spent hiking, river rafting, sightseeing, biking, swimming, eating at local restaurants, and exploring tree lined roads. We took walks around the Deschutes forest, spotted deers roaming, and had a picnic under an incredible waterfall! My favorite thing about Bend is the mix of adventure and awe. It’s truly a magical place to be!
At the end of the day we had fun playing games and making s’more on the LOGE patio.
The weather was warm and beautiful everyday so we enjoyed swimming and eating lunch poolside.
One day when Olive and I were swimming I suddenly I saw dark clouds begin to make their way over the pool. I quickly collected our things and walked back to the room. Within minutes it started to rain followed by the biggest hailstorm we’ve ever seen! At this point it was still 75 degrees outside! We caught a picture of Olive’s first hail storm. She didn’t know what to think, but I’m pretty sure she just wanted to get back in the pool!
The storm was a fun change of weather in the middle of summer! After the rain passed the sun came out and we headed out for an early dinner.
Eateries
I didn’t realize all the food I’ve been missing out on until I came to Bend! Known for their farm-to-table restaurants, we walked around downtown drooling over all the places we wanted to try. Some of our local friends suggested a few places and we were blown away! One of my favorite restaurants was Spork, called “culinary magic” by The New York Times. It was a stylish restaurant serving Mexican-Asian fusion and craft cocktails. Absolutely delicious! If you would like other recommendations when you’re visiting Bend, send me a message and I’d be happy to share!
We spent the last day of our vacation at a nearby lake reflecting snowcapped mountains and the perfect rainbow. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our trip. We can’t wait to return this Winter to snowboard Mt. Bachelor!
