If you love candy but prefer sweets made with simple ingredients, these 3-ingredient gummy worms are for you! This easy gummy worm recipe delivers that nostalgic chewy texture using wholesome ingredients. They’re perfect for birthday parties, movie nights, Halloween snacks, or a fun kitchen project with kids. Once you see how easy homemade gummy worms are to make, you’ll never go back to store-bought!

  • Made with just three ingredients
  • Naturally sweetened
  • No artificial colors or corn syrup

These homemade gummies are perfect for kids and adults alike, and they’re an easy 30-minute treat you can customize with your favorite fruit juice blends! These are the molds I use. You can also adjust the gelatin or agar agar depending if you want a chewier or firmer gummy texture! I use 2.5 tablespoons grass-fed beef gelatin because I like them soft and chewy, but you can use 3-4 tablespoons for a firmer gummy.

To make multi-colored gummies

I use naturally-colored food dye from Whole Foods Market. For this recipe, food dye works best when using a clearer juice, such as fruit punch or apple juice. For thicker juices like mango you may not need food coloring to achieve a vibrant color.

3-Ingredient Gummy Worms

These 3-ingredient gummy worms are a quick, naturally sweetened homemade candy with the perfect chewy texture.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 20 gummy worms
Course: Candy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fruit juice I use a fruit punch blend!
  • 2 tablespoons honey maple syrup, or sweetener of choice
  • 2.5 tablespoons gelatin or 1.5 teaspoons agar agar
  • Natural food coloring optional

Equipment

  • 2 Droppers
  • 1 Silicone worm candy mold

Method

  1. Add the fruit juice to a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until warm but not hot, about 3 minutes.
  2. Stir in the honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice. Then whisk or stir in the gelatin or agar agar for a few minutes until fully dissolved
  3. To make a single-color gummy, transfer the mixture to a single bowl. To make multi-colored gummies, divide the mixture among multiple bowls. Add a few drops of different food coloring to each bowl until the desired color is reached. This works best when using a clearer juice, such as fruit punch or apple juice. For thicker juices like mango you may not need food coloring.
  4. To make a single-color gummy, use a dropper to fill the mold. To make multi-colored gummies, use 2 droppers to simultaneously add 2 colors on opposite sides to the silicone mold. (see video for reference )Note: If you don’t have a candy mold, you can also use an ice cube tray or pour the mixture into the bottom of a food storage container and cut into cubes once set.
  5. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to set before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Enjoy!

Notes

For a chewy gummy, use 2.5 tablespoons gelatin. For a firmer gummy use 3-4 tablespoons gelatin.
